Welcome to Fire on the Fountain, your one-stop literal shop for all things that fuel me with passion: fashion, music, and content creation.
As you may notice, the title of this blog is a play on iconic lyrics from the one band I grew up listening to throughout my childhood. This band has continued to fuel my journey as I’ve developed and present day, their music inspires me to pursue my sense of self-discovery through the content I share on social media and my growth on these social media platforms. The Grateful Dead, among other bands that are of my dad’s ultimate favorites, has helped guide me to a path of like-minded and loving individuals who have encouraged me to continue my path as a creative.
As a modern creative, I have channeled my innovative and imaginative pursuits into a number of different projects. From my fashion content creation on Instagram and TikTok to my previous YouTube “New Music Monday” vlogs, Fire on the Fountain serves as the home base for all my creative works.
Throughout my project portfolio, there is one key theme that resonates consistently throughout my content. That theme is to express yourself, specifically in ways an individual has felt limited or constricted in time’s past. I aim to utilize my platforms to inspire others to pursue their own individualized; unique sense of style, but more importantly, sense of self.
Growing up, I felt constantly pressured to be defined by a label or to fall into some sort of social classification in hopes that this placement would lead me to the people I ultimately wanted to be surrounded by. The lesson I failed to learn in these prominent years: that being my true self would naturally attract the people I am meant to be around and in staying true to my persona, I possess the ability and capability to reach my full potential in hopes of helping others do the same.
This realization emerged amidst the COVID pandemic in which I moved back home to live with my parents in Virginia Beach. In the spring of 2020, I had recently transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University from James Madison University. If I had to target one reason for my transfer, it would be the fact that my inner self no longer fit in the labeled box I had previously constructed. I left no room for personal evolution and I had outgrown the social classification I so desperately sought to become a part of. Leaving James Madison University was an opportunity to find my true self, not the version of myself I had counterfeit to adapt to the social climate of a university I had thought was my perfect match.
When I returned to my hometown of Virginia Beach during quarantine, I sought out an opportunity that would utilize the creative facets of myself that I had unconsciously muted for so long. I began working as a Sales Stylist at premiere local boutique, Apricot Lane Virginia Beach; where after a short time, I was promoted to the Social Media and Marketing Manager. This position served me with hands-on industry experience that my peers weren’t receiving throughout the pandemic. I capitalized off this opportunity by channeling my professional experience with social media and passion for creative styling into the launch of my TikTok where I began posting fashion-related content. The growth on this platform allowed me to expand my content creation to other social media platforms including Instagram and Pinterest.
As I continue on this journey of growth and self-discovery, I find it meaningful to share the highs and lows and my experiences on social media. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have provided me an opportunity to connect with individuals who place value on creativity and self-expression and YouTube has provided me with a platform where my voice can be heard.
Fire on the Fountain is all about the magic that goes into my creative process and the passion for sharing my magical creations with others who value my expression.
