It's Justin Bieber Season: "Leaving the Spotlight" Episode 1 Recap

I'm catching, or should I say re-catching, the Bieber Fever. After announcing his big return to music, he has released a YouTube documentary mini-series updating us on all we have missed in the past four years and preparing us for the excitement that is yet to come as Justin recently announced his new album, Changes, will release on Valentine's Day.

The mini-series begins with an 11 minute episode titled "Leaving the Spotlight" and paints the picture of Justin doing just that five years ago.

The introduction to "Leaving the Spotlight" was a video compilation of the timeline behind Justin cancelling the end of the Purpose Tour back in 2015. We then see Justin, talking to the camera confessional style, introducing himself and shedding light on to who he is.

Fast forward to May 2019, we see Justin taking Hailey to his hometown in Stratford, Ontario where they visit his old stomping, aka performing, grounds where he has a star on the sidewalk. The couple then visits his old childhood apartment. We hear a little from Hailey Baldwin about Justin and his growth in the past few years saying she is proud to support him.

We then meet Justin's managers, Scooter and Allison, who shed more light on Justin's abrupt departure from music and his recent eagerness to jump back in after a performance with Ariana Grande at Coachella in 2019.

"Leaving the Spotlight" sheds light on what led him to need a break and the journey he's been on that brought him back to his "craft," as Hailey referred to it.

As a Belieber, it was interesting to see a more mature side of Bieber as we haven't seen anything like this since the release of the Believe documentary in 2013. I am excited to see what the rest of the docu-series will bring.
