NEW Music Monday: Jan. Week 1

Welcome to the first NEW Music Monday --- Your one stop shop on what's happening in the music world and what Fire on the Fountain has to say about it.

2020 got "Yummy" fast. After posting multiple cryptic Instagram's, Justin Bieber has finally released his first solo single in almost four years and as a true grassroots fan, I feel it deserves to be recognized.

Since the release of new music from Selena, everyone can't stop talking about Justin and Selena drama. "Lose You To Love Me" was clearly a song written by Gomez during times of healing and heartbreak over her ex-boyfriend who married model, Hailey Baldwin. Since months have passed since the wedding, Selena has begun to speak out about her feelings and the process of rediscovering herself while also announcing her soon-to-be released album, Rare. While Rare is set to drop next week --- on Jan. 10 --- Justin has stolen some of the spotlight by releasing "Yummy" on Friday.

So the tease is real...Justin Bieber may or may not have overly promoted the release of the new single by basically counting down the hours until its drop, regardless, it caught my attention.

The song itself is a pop bop but compared to Selena's recent single release, it's pretty surface level in lyrical composition. It isn't one of Justin's emotional ballads from Purpose or Believe either. Bieber fans are definitely holding out hope that there will be some deep cuts on the new, still untitled, album coming from Bieber in the new future.

Following the release of "Yummy," soon came its music video, which was also teased on Biebers' Instagram.

The video takes place in a restaurant while Bieber sits at the table receiving plate after plate. He's sporting a bubblegum pink "Drew" sweatshirt; which honestly, I'm hoping I can buy online somewhere, and a light pink hair-do creating a flirty pink vibe that I'm obsessed with. Majority of the video Bieber is sitting at the table; however, towards the end we get to see some of the Bieber moves we have been missing. He ditches the sweatshirt, hops on the table and begins a catchy dance -- which I wouldn't be surprised if I started seeing on TikTok in the near future.

The song is not what I had expected from the star but it's catchy and for that, I'm in support of "Yummy."

In other news, Travis Scott recently resurfaced after the release of "HIGHEST IN THE ROOM" with the drop of JACKBOYS which was put together by Travis Scott, Sheck Wes, and Don Toliver; all three of which are signed to Cactus Jack Records. The compilation features ROSALÍA, Lil Baby, Quavo, Offset, Young Thug, and Pop Smoke. No need to question its success as it has already debuted at No. 1 Billboard Top 200 in no time at all. Since it only included 7 tracks, Travis Scott fans will not stay content for long.

Although it was slightly quiet for the first few days of 2020, gear up for a big month of new music. January will be full of exciting music releases and hopefully, tour announcements. Catch up on what's hot with me every Monday.

Preview of Week 2:

Rare by Selena Gomez

High Road by Kesha

We Are Deadbeats Vol. 4 by Zeds Dead

Peace and blessings. XOXO.
